UK Blasphemy Laws - Jesus Likes Poo?

A christian activist is attempting to have a BBC executive charged with "blasphemy" after the BBC screened the popular play, Jerry Springer - The Opera.

The show is said to portray Jesus as a "bit gay" and as someone who finds sexual gratification in human feces. While this play doesn't at all sound like my cup of tea isn't it about time peoples imaginary friends stopped being protected by law? Should there really be a law still on the statutes that forbids "blasphemy" and carries a sentence of up to seven years in prison?

No doubt christians were offended by this play, But guess what, Nobody cares. Christians, Just like everyone else, Don't have a right to not be offended. If you don't like it, Don't watch it.

  2. Does anyone else find it slightly ironic that Matt is wicked pissed about Expelled, but criticizes others who are offended by this play?

I mean, come on matt, if you don't like what expelled is trying to say, don't watch it.

  3. expelled is trying to get religious mythology taught to children as fact, And that is why people are "wicked pissed".

  4. but if you don't like it, don't watch it. You could say this movie is trying to get people to think Jesus was gay.

  5. i just told you, i dont care about the content. i care about the agenda.

  6. So, you see no "agenda" when it comes to this play, but you see an agenda when it comes to a movie that expresses a different point of view?

  7. The play is a stage production based entirely on fiction, Expelled is a documentary which is trying to get biblical myth taught as factual science.

For the sake of reasonable discussion develop some intellectual honesty.

I disagree. It is just trying to explain a different point of view on evolution. It is not trying to teach creationism. Also, just to point something out, evolution is still just a theory. You try to teach it like it is 100% true and anyone who says otherwise is an idiot. There are still a lot of holes in evolution. Like, where did trees come from? How come there are these big jumps between stages? How did bacteria form gills? Etc.

  9. Anyone who says otherwise IS an idiot, And apparently someone who doesn't know what a scientific theory is.

In science a theory is a way of explaining a set of data, it's a testable model. Not speculation, As you seem to think it is.

    prove it.

    ...what about the big bang?

  11. "prove it."

    proof

    "...what about the big bang?"

The big bang theory explains the fact that the universe is expanding and has been shown to have a point of origin.

There seems to be a pattern with you people. it seems the second you don't understand something instead of reading up on it and educating yourself you simply dismiss it as being untrue and use the explanation of "god done it".

It gets tiring having to constantly bury you people in your own ignorance and unwillingness to a) accept evidence and b) educate yourselves.

  12. So, your proof is basically saying "the idiocy of a few defines the intelligence of the many."

But there is no proof that the universe started in this tiny ball. That is what I was getting at.

There seems to be a pattern with you, matt. As soon as someone makes a good argument in another topic, you ignore it or start mudslinging. There was even one time when you said anyone who said "prolly" is an idiot. Yet you use improper grammar, spelling, and capitalization. Also, this site is not really dedicated to disproving god as it is making fun of people who have different views from you. You use arguments that have no proof (such as you using the multi-verse theory) and you call religions intolerant when you too are intolerant.

It gets tiring having to constantly bury you people in your own ignorance and unwillingness to a) accept evidence and b) educate yourselves.

I have yet to be "buried." You have not provided significant evidence that god does not exist. You merely resort to ignoring comments and mudslinging.

  13. You are continuing to prove your idiocy, Not to mention your desperate need to drag subjects way off topic in an attempt to be right about something, Anything.

If the universe is expanding in all directions what does that mean it would have once been? Think about it. use that infrequently exercised part of your brain that deals with logic and think for once.

Anyway, this has nothing to do with blasphemy laws in the UK. If you have nothing to say about UK blasphemy laws stop posting.

You are continuing to prove that you cannot create a cohesive argument by mudslinging.

If the universe is expanding in all directions what does that mean it would have once been?

smaller. It could have started at the size of very large galaxy. then it exploded. Doesn't mean that it started as a small dot the size of a pinprick.

Anyway, this has nothing to do with blasphemy laws in the UK. If you have nothing to say about UK blasphemy laws stop posting.

If the UK is a theocracy, which it isn't, it should have the ability to create a blasphemy law. Since it is not, it shouldn't.

I also like how you appear to break your own laws you set up here. But you are right, this has gotten slightly off topic. I see no problem if people go along with it though. The law only represses people and does not allow for a debate to flourish... if a debate could actually flourish at some point in this site...
