Obama: First President Not To Swear On The Bible

After the initial cock-up on Inauguration day where Chief Justice John Roberts tripped over what is arguably the most important collection of words in American history - prompting Obama to do the same - it was decided that the oath should be taken again. This time behind closed doors amidst a select few reporters and officials in the white house map room.

The retaking of the oath went without a hitch and Obama was successfully sworn in, a second time, as president of the United States Of America. But this time he done it without his left hand on the bible.

Obviously this is not that much of a big deal and the second taking of the oath was just, as the white house lawyer put it, "out of the abundance of caution". But it is refreshing to see that Obama doesn't attach much important to religious pomp and ceremony.

it is not known if "so help me god" was crow-barred in at the end like it usually is which renders an otherwise poetic and powerful oath jitterly and awkward.

The Christian God Doesn't Like Themed Zoo Exhibits, Apparently

The Kansas City Zoo has received a complaint about Buddha statues in an Asian-themed area.

David Engle, of Overland Park, Kan., complained after visiting the zoo on Sunday. He said it's "phenomenal to me" that the zoo would put up two smiling statues of Buddha when "we can't have a cross or a nativity scene on public property." Engle, who said he is Christian, called the statues idolatry and "infuriating to God."

Despite being a cry baby and a hypocrite Engle has completely missed the point. Religious things are allowed on public property, For instance in museums, historical exhibits and, In this case, A themed zoo exhibition featuring animals indigenous to Asia. What isn't allowed is the promotion of religion.

Christian Mob Protest Atheist Sign

Around 500 christian protesters turned up at at the capitol steps in Washington last Sunday to protest against the holiday sign erected by Wisconsin's Freedom From Religion Foundation in which religion was described as "myth and superstition".

Rev. Kenneth Hutcherson, the pastor of Antioch Bible Church in Redmond must surely be awarded with the most hypocritical quote of the day award when he said "just because you must represent everyone in the state doesn't mean that you put up with intolerance from the people that you represent".

Now here is a little quiz for you. I want you to identify which of the following two positions best describes "intolerance".
1 - You can have your signs and we can have ours, or.
2 - only signs which support my position should be displayed in a building funded by all tax payers and all minorities should be prevented from having signs.

Rev. Ken apparently wasn't the only imbecile present at the rally. State Rep. Jim Dunn, a Vancouver Republican come a close second with his quote; "It is time to chase out of the house of God all the unbelievers and evildoers". And which "house of god" would that be jimmy boy? The capitol building? Read the constitution, dick head.

"Stomp Out Atheists!" Screams Shrill, Intolerant, Cretinous Christian

It's nice to see christians exposing themselves as intolerant imbeciles yet again by demanding that everyone believe the same as them.

Court Upholds 10 Commandments On Public Land

A nearly 50-year-old monument inscribed with the Ten Commandments does not violate the Constitution just because it sits nearly alone on public grounds in a Washington city, a federal appeals court ruled on Wednesday.

The division between church and state is a core principle of American democracy, but courts have long struggled to find exactly where the dividing line falls.

The U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals cited precedent rulings in this latest case, which involves a 6-foot-tall (1.8-meter-tall) granite monument near the Old City Hall in Everett, Washington, about 25 miles north of Seattle.

The court found that the monument did not have a solely religious purpose. "Nothing about the setting is conducive to genuflection," Judge Kim McLane Wardlaw wrote for a three-judge panel.

How on earth can a monument depicting the 10 commandments from the christian bible not be solely religious? They are religious rules. By definition it is a religious monument, And it's on public land, owned by you, The tax payer.

Christian Nation House Resolution 888 - Rewriting History

We have seen the religious right attack science education in order to impose their theological beliefs on public school science curriculum. House Resolution 888 is the first official attempt to encourage theological beliefs to interfere with accurate education about Americas history.

House Resolution 888, While a mostly ceremonial resolution, Is just another step towards a theocratic America where history is rewritten and taught as fact. If these people are so damned "christian" why do they have such an obscene propensity to tell so many filthy lies?

Don't be fooled by the phrase "religious diversity" because the only religion mentioned in the 70 paragraph resolution is christianity.

Mike Huckabee Wants To Rewrite Constitution To Be More Like The Bible

In a move that can only be described as a desperate attempt to rally the fundamental christians and piss off everyone else Mike Huckabee sensationally said America should amend the constitution so that it's in "gods standards" on Monday in Michigan. I couldn't imagine anything more barbaric that having a constitution that met the christian gods petulant, Vindictive, egotistical and violent standards.

This should be seen as an official statement declaring Mike Huckabee's intention to turn America in to a theocracy.

I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution, But I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that's what we need to do -- to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view.

Ron Paul Should Read The Constitution

Thanks to Ben who linked to this article written by Ron Paul about how the secular, "elitist" left are waging a war on christmas, Making society immoral and how the founding Fathers envisioned a christian nation with churches as the moral compass of society, Which is funny when we look at the stuff christians get up to.

Ron Paul likes to bang on about the constitution and how he is fighting for it but maybe the guy should read the damned thing, And take some time to read the bible, Especially the bit about lying. Ron Paul, Like other christians, Knows full well that the founding fathers wanted a separation between church and state and they fully believed that the state should support no particular religion. This fact doesn't stop Ron Paul saying the exact opposite.

Paul harps back to the good-old-days and points out that "christmas isn't the same anymore" and that it has lost the "good will to all men" feeling, And instantly blames secularists. Apparently, According to Paul, Secularists hate christmas and feel "offended" when they see nativity scenes on private property and want a legally anti-christian nation. If christians need christmas to exercise good will they are in more trouble than i thought. what kind of morality is that?

The thing is. Secularists don't hate christmas. They just don't want to have to pay for it. Nobody cares what you do on your own property with your own money Ron. But buying christian symbols to celebrate a christian festival on public land with tax payers money in not constitutional, You should know that, Mr Constitution.

I guess Ron Paul is doing with the constitution what most christians do with the bible. He is is selectively reading it and taking out the bits he likes and ignores the rest.

Pledge of Allegiance Protest

American Atheists California, in conjunction with Bay Area Atheist and Humanist groups, will rally in front of the San Francisco Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals building on Tuesday, December 4, to support the idea of removing religious references and slogans in the Pledge of Allegiance and on national currency.

In 2004, when Michael Newdow argued before the Supreme Court for removal of “under god” in the Pledge of Allegiance, California Atheists showed their support by rallying at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

It's about time the religious and their governmental defenders of the faith realize that for an atheist to pledge to "god" is more offensive than a christian being forced to pledge to allah. Oh, And there is that tiny thing about it being against the constitution.

Chuck Norris Shits On The American Constitution

Fundies say the darndest thing

Everyones favorite has-been standing joke Chuck Norris has become the latest in a long line of liars from god by shitting on the American constitution and completely misrepresenting Americas forefathers.

In the below video Chuck and his wife (wholesome christian family) tell you that bible studies should be taught in schools because "God knows, We need it" and that the forefathers had no intention of removing the bible from the classroom. Even though they categorically said that the state should support no particular religion.

By the way, Check out Chuck Norris' face in this video. He looks like he's had a bang on the head.

Constitution 1 - Religion 0

Religion took another blow at the hands of an appeals court and the American constitution lately, And rightly so, When the court ruled that the government were unable to turn a small area of public land containing a cross over to private ownership so that the cross could remain in place in the Mojave National Preserve in southern California.

The reason for this decision is the constitutions clause that states government can not favour any one religion. So when a Buddhist man asked for permission to build a Buddhist shrine near the cross and was denied permission in 1999 it started a long legal battle.

"A grave constitutional injury already exists," Judge Margaret McKeown wrote for a three-judge panel that upheld a lower court ruling. "The permitting display of the Sunrise Rock cross in the Preserve is an impermissible governmental endorsement of religion.

"The government's long-standing efforts to preserve and maintain the cross atop Sunrise Rock lead us to the undeniable conclusion that the government's purpose in this case is to evade the injunction and keep the cross in place," the judge said. "Carving out a tiny parcel of property in the midst of this vast Preserve - like a donut hole with the cross atop it - will do nothing to minimize the impermissible governmental endorsement."
